At BlackRock, we believe that the breadth and scale of our offering combining distinct investment approaches such as index, active model-driven and fundamental benefits our governance programme and ultimately our clients. Given that some of our clients will always be shareholders in those companies in the indices in which we invest on their behalf, we are able to take a long-term perspective on governance-related matters. At the same time, the insight gained from our fundamental analysis and in-depth knowledge of the businesses and the management of companies in BlackRock’s actively invested portfolios ensures that we focus on value-related governance matters.

As an asset manager, our role is to act in the best interest of our clients. We carry out our fiduciary responsibilities as representatives of share owners primarily through engagement and voting. We have a dedicated team to implement our corporate governance and proxy voting policies, which works closely with the investment teams.

If you would like more information about our approach to corporate governance and responsible share ownership please email clientservices.aus@blackrock.com.
